  • TEACH Development, a Hawaiian LLC, was formed to enter into a public-private partnership with the State of Hawaii and the County of Maui to repurpose & develop Old Maui High School (OMHS) into The TEACH Center for Technology, Education, Agriculture, Community, & Health
  • OMHS consists of. . .
    • A 23-acre campus
    • 47,000 sq. ft. of built environment that is in fair to good structural condition consisting of classrooms, administration, multi-purpose and storage.
    • Zoning and entitlements that cover the intended uses of TEACH

Project Vision

A Regenerative Innovation, Education, and Community Center

Our vision for repurposing the 23-acre site of Old Maui High School will build upon the recommendations and functions set forth in the Friends of Old Maui High School (OMHS) Master Plan with regenerative design and planning to exponentially increase the social, environmental and economic benefits of the Project. The Project vision and benefits will be realized through inclusivity and collaboration with the community, local non-profits, businesses and government, as well as deep environmental, cultural, traffic, infrastructure, archaeological, flora & fauna and permaculture studies.


It is our intention to retain the feeling, viable structures and major landscape elements of the historic campus, while also creating an exemplary place of regenerative innovation, education and health with great social, environmental and economic benefits to Maui.

 

The vision for TEACH Center is to provide an exemplary showcase of regenerative systems design, sustainability, optimal health, green education and jobs training, meaningful work and a beauitful community gathering place. We will integrate the power, water, waste, wastewater and agriculture systems with the built environment to showcase the synergistic benefits of integrated and regenerative approaches.


We are committed to the belief that if we help create great value for  the community and land, that value will be returned. This commitment extends to collaborating with the community, local non-profits and governments on special programs that provide meaningful solutions to social and environmental challenges.


REGENERATIVE DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
 

Using a Regenerative Development Process, TEACH is committed to a principled approach to multi-stakeholder engagement and collaboration that includes: being guided by Nature’s wisdom, partnering with the local community, NGO’s and government to develop TEACH as an exemplary showcase of cooperation and innovation for community, social, economic and environmental benefit.

    The following table represents the current vision for the facilities at The TEACH Center.  We anticipate that as we have an opportunity to engage with the land and community and do in depth studies, research and planning, we will evolve our vision and plans to be of the greatest social, environmental and economic benefit.
